GOLDIE'S FIRST BIG TRIP

After 8 years, I finally retired my old Lincoln Town Car, Big Bertha. Big Bertha is still running well, but since I have my new one, Goldie Han, I decided to give Big Bertha to a friend. Big Bertha has over 287,000 miles and it seems that she can go on forever. Big Bertha is now tooling around in Hot Springs, Arkasas. I hope my new Lincoln Town car Goldie Han will be reliable as Big Bertha has been. Gary and I decided to drive Goldie Han to Las Vegas for our annual trip to Vegas.

The 9 days trip started on Saturday, December 28. Gary and I packed our car full of clothes, food and beverages. It was rediculous! We had enough food to last a month had we ran off I 10 and careened into a steep ravine away from rescuers's view. There were half a dozen winter coats and a combined total of 8 pairs of shoes along with luggages of all sizes.Read more

Recovering from an otherwise devastating election, some conservatives believe they have found a silver lining amidst the rubble: the continuing salience of “culture war” issues in general, and the subject of gay rights in particular. At a National Review post-election symposium seeking to answer the question, “Whither Conservatism?” social conservatives Maggie Gallagher, Jeffrey Bell and Ed Whelan all encouraged conservatives to stress gay issues even more in the future, and most everyone in the audience nodded in agreement. Rich Lowry, the editor of that magazine, recently wrote a column declaring “No way, no how,” to those calling for a détente in the battle over gay marriage and abortion.Read more

THE FABULOUS 9 TOURS SAN FRANCISCO - AKA the AARP tour

Day 1 - A DIM SUM FEAST

The average age among us nine folks that went to San Franicsco was about 59 with me being the second youngest at the age of 43. The group consisted of me, Gary, my sister, Lan, my mother, my brother's mother-in-law, my friends, Lewis, Ernest, Juan and Joe. We left on February 5 and after a one hour delayed, our planed landed safely in San Francisco and a reserved shuttle van (Super Shuttle - $75 one way) carried us to our first hotel, the Sheraton Fisherman's Wharf. This hotel, along with The Triton Hotel (near China Town) were the two hotels I got through Priceline.com for cheap.Read more

I am a 22-year veteran firefighter and paramedic: a public employee serving the residents of Seattle. My professional and spiritual convictions run deep. Were I to die in the line of duty, I would hope my sacrifice would be equal to those of my heterosexual peers.

Sad to say, it isn't. Legislation proposed by Sen. Ed Murray and Rep. Jamie Pedersen hopes to remedy that. Not until 2012, mind you, when the Mayans say the world will end, anyway.

Just kidding. But the silliness of the aside illustrates the contortions in which "marriage equality" becomes hopelessly mired. This goes deeper than pension and line-of-duty survivor benefits. My sacrifice would not equal those of my heterosexual peers, for one clear, foundational reason. My life isn't equal. Not under the law.Read more

If you're anywhere in Houston, you probably aren't far from a mall, of which there are many more than can be mentioned here. They're usually located at or near an intersection of a freeway with the Loop or Beltway 8 or other major artery. These are good for general shopping, but hold little of interest for most visitors. A different story is the outlet malls, the principal one being Katy Mills out at the far western boundary of Houston, in the town of Katy. Take the Katy Freeway (I-10 west) until you spot the signs; the drive is about 25 miles. This mall is a mammoth collection of about 200 factory outlet stores that offer a large selection of merchandise at discount prices. The size of the discounts varies; some are good deals.Read more

I am embarking on my annual trip to Orlando for Gay Day Disney week. This year, making the trip will be my friends Lewis G. and my partner in crime, Gary G. Also tagging along this year will be my sister, Lan, her husband, John, their 16-year-old daughter, Jessica and their 5-year-old son, Baby John. This is Baby John 2nd trip to Disney World; he first went there with me when he was barely 2 years old. And as for my 16-year-old niece, this is her 5th time to Disney World. For my family, it does not matter if it's €œGay Day€ or whatever day, it's just a vacation trip. As for the red wig devil, Lewis G., this is his first trip to Orlando and South Florida.

By the time the newsletter comes out, the trip will be over, so I have made this article available on my newwww.Gaytraveling.us web site.Read more
